Our mission is to create a peaceful society whereby the social fabric of communities that faced a painful past will be repaired and personal healing is achieved. We want to reach this by consolidating the successes of Gacaca, like the creation of platforms for dialogue, active communities and the steps forward in the process of transitional justice, while at the same time acknowledging that the community needs in terms of healing, reconciliation and social justice require a follow up. It is in line with our mission to play a significant role in facilitating this follow up.
The mission of the Consortium Sociotherapy builds on three key fundamentals:
We believe that sustainable peace in the communities where we work can be achieved if the program is fully adapted to the local needs and contexts and facilitates participants in sociotherapy groups to build on their own capacities and that of their fellow community members.
