I am Marie Grâce Kagoyire Gasinzigwa, a Participatory Action Researcher at Community Based Sociotherapy. Academically I am a public health professional with a background in social sciences, nursing and professional counseling. My work has been mainly centered on counseling psychosocially affected vulnerable people and coordinating a psychosocial program during Gacaca courts period. I also have experience in research. I joined sociotherapy because of my interest in learning a new psychosocial approach that would enable me to improve my knowledge and skills to help people.

Nicolas Habarugira

Participatory Action Researcher (PAR) in Community Based Sociotherapy Program (CBSP)/Rwanda. A social scientist, development activist, researcher, I have worked with different public and private organizations/institutions, at national and regional level. With background education in Latin and philosophy from college Mwanga, a catholic famous school in Goma, I spent some time teaching introduction to philosophy and psychology. With a BA in English Linguistics and Literature from National University of Rwanda, a MA in development studies from KIU, I have worked, in different period of time, with refugees, the great lakes women organization COCAFEM, the Institute of National Museums of Rwanda under the Ministry of youth sport and culture, etc. In addition to multiple and different types of trainings, short courses and conferences, I also owe my experience to different countries I have visited or lived in such as Burundi, Uganda, Kenya, France and Germany.

Being aware of global challenges, believing in global and home grown solutions, I was attracted by sociotherapy as a program that engages communities in transforming their own lives through dialogue that leads to individual and community healing. I also liked the contribution to the future of the country by focusing on social cohesion and reconciliation. All this challenged and confirmed my conviction that, we cannot eradicate poverty nor achieve social justice without thinking of next generation(s).
